Located in a wooded area just off Route 102A, Wind Shadow, offers the privacy you want for a relaxing getaway. With its spacious deck, natural wood surroundings and distant water views, you will instantly feel the serenity this cottage has to offer.
Walking into Wind Shadow Cottage, you will feel the comfortable openness of the living room/dining area. The dining area features a table to accommodate six people. The open and airy living room includes a beautiful gas-run fireplace. You can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace from the cozy couch or rocking chairs. The fully-equipped kitchen, complete with granite countertops, will be more than enough to make those home-cooked meals — even away from home! The kitchen is well-equipped with microwave, coffee pot and dishwasher. The first floor bathroom features a tub/shower unit. Down the hall are the two first floor bedrooms. One offers two twin beds. The other a queen-sized bed.
The 2nd story of this 3 bedroom cottage offers a master suite with bathroom. This bedroom offers a queen-sized bed and the bathroom includes a shower unit.
Wind Shadow offers ample sleeping for 6 people. We do not allow smoking or pets. However, if you have allergies, the owners do have a small dog that will be there at times when they are staying in the cottage.
Additional amenities include: VCR/DVD, TV with cable and high speed internet connection, gas grill, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and CD player, phone with lomg distance block.
Just miles from Swans Island Ferry terminal, Wind Shadow Cottage is close to Thurston's Wharf (for that Maine lobster dinner), Mainly Delight (best doughboys in the state) and the Seawall picnic area. You will never be at a loss of things to do in the area around this cottage. Nearby Southwest Harbor is just 4 miles away, and there you can enjoy shopping, eating, bike rentals and sea kayak tours, as well as The Oceanarium, where you can learn all about our sea life. There, they even have a touch tank for the whole family to feel and touch all the sea life we have to offer! And if you're looking for something more, Bar Harbor and the main entrance to Acadia National Park are just a 20-minute drive on the other side of the island.
